You are given your dream car. Free of charge, free upkeep, free fuel, free maintenance, free wearables.

The catch: the radio will forever play your least favorite genre of music. The volume is automatically set at an audible level while driving. This means when cruising it's at a comfortable normal level. Stomp on the loud pedal and it raises the volume (so no drowning out the music by cruising around in low gear)

Any attempt to disable the radio or change what it's playing will result in the cars immediate self immolation. Any attempt to enter the car wearing ear protection will result in immediate self immolation. Any attempt to cover the cars music through the use of headphones, a boombox, wireless speaker, etc will result in immediate self immolation.

If your dream car doesn't have a radio, one will be added. The radio added will have a small amount of static all the time as punishment for trying to find a loophole.

Could you do it? Honestly I don't know that I could. I couldn't live with modern country for long enough to enjoy the car.

I would use the tech from noise cancelling headphones to cancel the music out without using headphones haha.

Long story short, hell yeah, I can always try and change my tastes in music, but even if I hate it I would still drive it at least a little, no dd requirement so should be fine.

Kinja'd!!! Jayhawk Jake > deekster_caddy

I think for the sake of this argument it just plays what is currently your least favorite. If you grow to like it you like it, but it still drowns out the engine noise and that's all you get.

If you go deaf, it falls under the 'ear protection' loophole and the car self immolates.

Hypothetically, if you had zero compute time and were able to tie into the speakers it would work by cancelling out the signal before the speaker ever vibrated.

09/17/2014 at 11:36

Kinja'd!!!0

Then no. I couldn't listen to crap music (at least in my opinion) for that long. What if I had to go on a road trip (which I often do)? I would die. Trust me, the car wouldn't have to self immolate, I would torch it.

Kinja'd!!! webmonkees > Jayhawk Jake
09/17/2014 at 11:51

Kinja'd!!!0

Eventually your brain will tune out the sounds, adapt, use the other senses. It will no longer be a least favorite genre. Definitely would need a shuffle feature but eventually it would all just be white noise. Not a good life.

Park car, file suit, have car impounded, buy at auction, remove immolation devices and radio.
